Gentle Steps Occupational Therapy
Terms and Conditions

All bookings are subject to the Terms and Conditions below:

Therapist obligations
As an Occupational Therapist, my approach is client-led. I will offer advice, support and options for next steps, but it is the parents' / carers' responsibility to decide what is right for their child.
I am DBS checked, hold Professional Indemnity Insurance and practice ethically within the framework of occupational therapy. I am registered with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
I reserve the right not to accept a referral, terminate an assessment or not to circulate an assessment report if the referral appears to be outside my area of expertise or the client fails to comply with the terms and conditions set out in this agreement.
Any information shared by parents / carers with me is treated as confidential, unless a safeguarding concern is disclosed. If a safeguarding concern is raised, I have a duty of care to report this externally, if appropriate.
All paperwork, notes and reports are owned and securely stored by me, in accordance with GDPR.

Parent / carer obligations
It is the parents / carers responsibility to inform me of any special medical conditions/allergies at the point of booking, including any physical, emotional or learning needs, as well as any behavioural diagnoses and keep me updated about any changes.
Children and/or parents / carers must not attend any sessions or assessments whilst suffering from any serious illness or contagious infection.

Prices and description
All prices are as stated on the website; however I reserve the right, at any time, to revise the price of my services.

Payment Terms
Payment is usually made via BACS and clients will receive an email invoice once they have booked. Payment will confirm the appointment space, and if this has not been received by 24 hours before the appointment,, the slot may be offered to another family waiting.

Reports
A report is provided for all assessment services. Unless there is a technical or factual error, these reports cannot be edited after they have been shared with parents / carers.

It is the responsibility of the parent / carer to confirm that a private report will be accepted externally by their GP, education provider or whoever they are choosing to share this with. I cannot offer refunds for a private report that is not accepted externally or within the NHS.

Refunds
Unfortunately I am unable to offer refunds for services, due to the extensive planning, preparation and time that goes into each session and/or report. A refund will only ever be provided in exceptional circumstances, if a complaint is raised and on investigation it is seen that I did not act in the best interests of the child.

Cancellations by the client
Please let me know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend a session. I will do my best to reschedule for as soon as possible depending on availability.

A £30 fee is payable if the cancellation is less than 24 hours before a session or assessment. This must be paid before the rescheduled session can take place.

Cancellations by the therapist
If I am unable to attend a session or assessment due to illness or another reason, I will aim to give you as much notice as possible. I will aim to reschedule the session for as soon as possible depending on availability.

Complaints
If you are at all unhappy with the services at Gentle Steps, please contact me so I can do my best to resolve any issues.

You have the right to contact the Health and Care Professions Council to make a complaint about any practitioner you are working with and an external investigation will be carried out.
